Historical Sites In Kandy

                        MEDAWALA  TAMPITA VIHARAYA

Medawala Tampita Viharaya is a place where you can see frescoes belonging to the Kandyan art tradition in the Kandy District Built on stone pillars, the house is made of wood. The interior of the house has a small Buddha image as well as Kandyan period paintings on the walls of the house. 

                            AMBAKKE DEVALA

The Ambakke Devalaya can be named as another place of worship in the Kandyan period. Large wooden carvings can be seen in the house which is made using wooden poles. In addition to the main house, which has thirty-two stone pillars and a Madol Kurupawa, there are seven sub-houses.

                  GADALADENIYA TRINITY CHURCH


Located at the foot of a hill in the Kandy District , this Gadaladeniya Temple is a combination of elements of the pallava art tradition and Buddhist temple. This temple is most famous for its association with the watchtower. other than that this temple holds a special place among other temples through the Trinity Stupas. 

                               HIDAGALA TEMPLE 


This temple is located in the Hindagala area in the Kandy District and is located on top of a large boulder. This place can be named as a place where you can see the murals belonging to the Anuradhapura era. From the above it can be seen that there are a large number of historical places of worship in the Kandy District. These places have attracted a lot of attention both locally and internationally.
